A Message From the Owner
I vividly remember hearing the story of "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" read by Mrs. Street, my seventh-grade
English teacher. While she got to the ending, the room was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop, as we were all completely
overcome with sadness. The next day, the few people in class who knew how to fold cranes taught the rest of the class. I
showed a group of classmates the step-by-step process and was happy to see that my usually stoic peers were actually
enthusiastic about learning. The story had brought us together through a mutual understanding of the horrors of war, of
profound pain and suffering, and of hope.

Artist Bio
Vanessa Ko, owner and artist of Thousandfold Origami, is a fourth-generation Asian-American born and raised in Hong Kong,
where she was immersed in a culture in which origami is a commonplace hobby among children. As she excelled in the fine
arts throughout her school years, she gave little thought to origami, even while transforming every unwanted receipt and post-
it note into a paper crane. After graduating from Northwestern University in 2003, she quickly realized that the corporate world
was not for her. She decided to tap her unusual talent and great love—origami—and started a successful Internet business
selling origami products. Her online store is believed to be the first of its kind, entirely devoted to finished origami products
such as paper cranes, butterflies, and flowers at accessible prices. She now continues to seek other avenues for her creativity
and talents.
The origami store was dedicated to the ideals of beauty, perfection, tradition, and hope that are
attached to the art of origami. We are committed to providing our customers with quality products
bound by these ideals.
